Shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, an officer driving on Post Road spotted a Bronx resident Gerardo Robles, 35, operating his Toyota with no headlights on before making a righthand turn onto Fenimore Road and narrowly avoiding crashing into a street sign, prompting the traffic stop.
During the stop, the officer reported that Robles had the smell of alcohol on his breath and admitted to drinking four beers several hours earlier at a bar in White Plains. The officer also stated that Robles had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet when he exited the vehicle.
Police said that Robles proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and an alco-sensor pre-screening breath test determined that Robles had a blood alcohol content of .147 percent, and he was arrested at the scene. At Scarsdale Police Headquarters, further testing would show that Robles had a blood alcohol content of .14 percent.
Robles was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, both misdemeanors. He was also cited for moving from a lane of traffic unsafely and an equipment violation for having no lights on his car. Following arraignment, Robles was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on March 14 to answer the charges.
